GENERAL CONDITIONS

The International competition of youth and children's art “WORKSHOP” (The competition) is organized for children and youth groups and soloists, paintings from Russia andforeign countries.

•  AIMS AND PURPOSES:

- to contribute to the developement of culture and of youth's art. To give to the children as well as to their teachers the opportunity to learn about the new tendances in art and in pedagogy, to show them the works of young composers, poets, directors, choreographers in order to expand their repertoire.
- to find and support talanted artists to heighten their level of performance by organizin master-classes of the leading professors from Russia and other countries
- to help the teachers that work in the social cultural sphere with youths to improve their professional skills.
- to implement the program “Professional interest” (the aim is to improve the public image of the teacherin the cultural sphere)
- to draw the attention of public organisations and institutes to the problems of children and youth's art
- to contribute to the mutual understanding of children from different countries by proclaiming and bringing into life the principals of peace and tolerance.

•  ORGANISATION AND REGULATIONS

Main events:
•  Competition in different cathegories; Opening ceremony; Series of master-classes of maestros from Russia and foreign countries; Skill-improvement courses; Entertainment for children, meetings with foreign groups, parties; Awarding ceremony and gala concert “The young keepers”.

The competition is held in the following cathegories:

Choreography (folk, classical, modern, variety dance)
Singing (folk, academic, variety) – solo, groups and choirs
Singing for the students of music schools (folk, academic, variety) – solo, groups and choirs;
Folk instruments – groups (large and small), orchestras
Instrumental music – groups

•  PARTICIPATION

3.1. The participants submit to the organisation comittee (via fax or e-mail) the following documents:

1 . Application form (new one) by the 1st of december
2. Groups which demand the transfer should submit the arrival/departure information (date and exact time) ? of the train/flight, railway station/aerport, train destination . (form 2) by the 10.12.

3. History of the group, biography of a soloist, photo 3x4 of each participant and teacher is to be given to the organisators on the 1st day . 3.2. The participation in 2 cathegories is possible on the condition of performing 2 works in each catheory.
3.3. The rehearsal time before the competition is limited. Only technical rehearsal is provided. (max 3 ,3 min for 2 works) 3.4 . Age limits for the cathegories folk instruments, instrumental music, singin(variety, folk), choreography:

junior (up to 10 years), middle (11-14 years), segnior (15-19 years)
For the academic singing: Junior (up to 11 years), Middle (12-14 years), Segnior (15-18 years)

3.5. Duration of the performed works for singers – 3,30 min each, as for choreography , instrumental music,folk instruments , - 4 min.
3.6 . The number of participants is limited in each cathegory . 1 teacher can bring 1 group and 3 soloists only . The organisation comittee has the right to stop accepting application forms before the announced date if the number of participants exceeds the capacities of the competition.

FOLK INSTRUMENTS»
groups (large and small), orchestras
REQUIREMENTS: the work of the 1 round cantilena (it should be performed in accordance with the music withdramatic or lyrical expression ). The piece of music is chosen by the teacher.Performance of the 2 piece of music (2 round) – original work of vituosic nature. Criteria of the jury: “level of performance, “Artistic skills”, “Repertoire”: works by modern composers and composers of the region based on the folk traditions of the reion. The competition awards special diploma for the choice of works given to the teachers who choose the wors with the following characteristics: - based on the work of the composer from their region

1, 2 rounds. Performance of 2 works one after another (8 min) The number of the adultsmust not exceed 30% of those on the stage if the total number is more than 10.

ACADEMIC SINGING (SOLOISTS, GROUPS, CHOIRS)
REQUIREMENTS: for the middle and segnior cathegories :

1 work by a foreign composer (in original version). 2 work by the composer from your country . For junior: both works should be of different nature the repertoire being suitable for the age in any language . Criteria: «level of performance», «Repertoire», «Artistic skills». The participants of this cathegory perform all the works with live music. 

FOLK SONG (GROUPS, SOLOISTS)
REQUIREMENTS : 1 round – 1 work a capella, 2 round - 2 nd work should be original (avoid usung well-known songs) It is recomended to use local dialect, drama components.. It would be better if the participant performed the song of the region with live music. Criteria: «level of performance», «Repertoire», « Artistic skills».

VARIETY SINGING ( GROUPS, SOLOISTS )
REQUIREMENTS : 1 round – 1 work IN in the official language of your country. 2 round - 2 nd work can be performed in any language the songs are performed using an instrumental version. A little bit of back vocal is allowed in referein only.

FOLK DANCE, CLASSICAL DANCE
REQUIREMENTS : 1 round – 1 dance , 2 round - 2 nd dance. . Criteria: «level of performance», «Repertoire»: usage of lacal traditions is appriciated, “music”(costume).

MODERN DANCE (GROUPS)
REQUIREMENTS : 1 round – 1 dance , 2 round - 2 nd dance. The following styles are accepted: modern, free plasticity, jazz-modern, free style. Criteria: «level of performance”, “choreography”, “composition”, “music”(costume)

VARIETY DANCE (GROUPS)
REQUIREMENTS : 1 round – 1 dance, 2 round - 2 nd dance. The following styles are accepted: show-dance, club dance, street jazz, soul-jazz, stylisation of folk dance, ball dance with free program, children choreography (for junior cathegory). Criteria: «level of performance”, “originality”, “music”(costume) .

INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC
The following styles are accepted: jazz, rock, classic, fusion . 1, 2 rounds. Performance of 2 works one after another The following cathegories of instruments are accepted: stringed, wind, percussion instruments. Criteria: technique, melodiousness (repertoire, artistic skills) .

PAINTING
REQUIREMENTS . 1 st round The participants bring a painting 40*60 cm (the choise of the subject is free) 2 round. The participants create a painting on the topic Sochy with assistance of professors. At the end of the competition an exibition is organised. Pte main purpose here is to impliment the program for plein-air painting and also to findand to support young talents.
Criteria: style, graphic's quality, originality, message, design

MAJEURETTE
Requirements. 1 st round. performance of the 1 st work 2 round. performance of the 2 work. Criteria: «artistic skills», «originality», «music accompagnement », «costume».

4. FINANCIAL CONDITIONS.
4.1 The cost of accomodation in the hotel DAGOMUZ for 7 days in the triple rooms with meals included, transfer, participation in the master-classes parties, swimming-pool is 220 euro per participant and 250 euro per teacher . Participation fee – 45 euro for soloists and 10 euro per person for a group.
4.2If you prefer to find your own accomodation the participation fee is then 50 euro for soloists and 15 euro per person for groups. The teacher pays 50 euro.

8.01.2008 – arriving (dinner)
9-13 january opening ceremony, competition, master-classes(3 meals a day)
14 january awarding ceremony, closing ceremony (3 meals a day)
15 january (breakfast, lunch) departure by 13:30

The paymaent is to be executed after recieving the bill from the organisation board

5. THE PRIZES.
The participants in each cathegory and age group are awarded laureates of I, II, III prizes , winners of the diplomas of 1,2,3 degree and “participants”
